Forest Showcase 2022

What an Amazing Day (even the weather behaved!)

We were delighted to be the sponsor of and host the “Talks & Tastings” Tent at Forest Showcase for 2022.

Simon compered the day, introducing lovely local suppliers and friends of Forest Deli.  First up was Nina Howden from Silver Circle Distillery, introducing us to the Scandinavian Spirit AquaVit, she was followed by the amazing Madi from The Crafty Pickle Co sharing her great knowledge of all things fermented.  Tim from local micro brewery Two Tinkers had a full house, the audience eager to learn all about hops and brewing.  Simon (aka Mr Cheese) gave a great insight into the history of British Cheese and the audience also got to try some fabulous locally made Fedw by Brookes Dairy and a Forest Deli cheese counter staple and favourite Rutland Red.  Next up was Matt from Peppers Perfect Pizza, who gave a fab hands-on demo (including audience participation!) and expert knowledge of how to make the perfect pizza.  We really love working with the team at PPP recommending cheese toppings when they are designing their pizza menus, we also have a shared mutual appreciation of Shipton Mills “00” flour.  Last up was Hari, owner of the beautiful Tudor Farmhouse Hotel in Clearwell, showing us how to make non-alcoholic cocktails which she has now turned into a separate business NoLo Cocktails.

Whilst Simon and Kay were running the Talks & Tastings tent, Debbie was running around the festival with her camera!  It was so good to see so many of our Forest Deli suppliers in one place and to grab a quick snap whilst saying hello 🙂  Debbie also did a cooking demonstration in the cooking theatre talking all things store cupboard, and creating one of the “Taste of Autumn” dishes, chorizo & butter bean stew with crispy cod goujons.  She also prepared a “Pumpkin Fondue”, a great dish for left over cheese, the full recipe for which is available here.

All in all it really was a great day, and despite a wet forecast the rain stayed away and the sun shone!  Here’s a few picture highlights 🙂
